Senior Spotlight: Joella Sproles

As graduation draws near, we’re sitting down with the class of 2023 to talk about their time at Sioux Falls Lutheran School and what the future holds.

Name: Joella Sproles

Accepted to: University of Sioux Falls

Intended field of study: I plan to study business, and possibly minor in art.

How did you decide on a school/field of study?
I want to own my own business like my dad.

What makes USF a good fit for you?
It is a smaller Christian university.

How did you feel when you received the news of your acceptance?
I had a music scholarship before I even got accepted, but I was very happy.

Which classes, programs, and/or faculty at Sioux Falls Lutheran School helped support your interest in your planned field of study?
The reason why I’m choosing entrepreneurial studies is because of my dad, but Mrs. Hoekman does make art so enjoyable, and because of that I would like to either minor in art or take multiple art classes in college.

Are there any other activities that had a significant impact on you during your time at SFLS?
Volleyball and powerlifting; I love working out, and I was able to build closer relationships with people because of these two sports.

What advice would you share with underclassmen at SFLS?
Focus on your studies, but also focus on yourself and what God wants for you so you can become a better person, not just for yourself but also for others.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” –John 15:5
