Senior Spotlight: Emma Stubkjaer

As graduation draws near, we’re sitting down with the class of 2023 to talk about their time at Sioux Falls Lutheran School and what the future holds.

Name: Emma Stubkjaer

Accepted to: Dordt University

Intended field of study: Exercise Science

How did you decide on a school/field of study?
I really enjoy learning about the body, it’s anatomy, and all of the incredible things it’s capable of doing.

What makes Dordt a good fit for you?
I really like that it’s a Christian college. I am able to continue volleyball there, which was a huge factor in choosing schools. I also really enjoy the small student population and town.

How did you feel when you received the news of your acceptance?
I was thrilled, and a lot of uncertainty was lifted off my shoulders.

Which classes, programs, and/or faculty at Sioux Falls Lutheran School helped support your interest in your planned field of study?
I really enjoyed my science classes, health, and sports. All of those combined kind of led me towards taking on exercise science.

Are there any other activities that had a significant impact on you during your time at SFLS?
I was a part of the volleyball and track team, and loved supporting my friends in their other extracurricular activities!

What advice would you share with underclassmen at SFLS?
High school isn’t forever, so make the most of the time you have with the people you love being around. If you need help in school, don’t be afraid to ask your teachers, it’s what they’re there for! Lasty, take risks and go into everything you do knowing that God’s right behind you leading you every step of the way!

What is your favorite Bible verse?
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” –Deuteronomy 31:6
