Sanford Health and Sioux Falls Lutheran School are pleased to announce a major pledge to the Lutheran School’s Our Greatest Gifts capital campaign. Sanford Health has agreed to donate 30 acres of land for the school’s new facility and a matching gift of up to 5 million dollars.

“This gift looks back to the heritage of Sioux Valley Hospital’s roots as a Lutheran hospital and forward to Sanford Health’s priority of supporting children and families in this community,” Sanford President and CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft said. “We also wanted to support the tremendous effort of Sioux Falls Lutheran School donors in raising $2.6 million in the first year of this capital campaign.”

Administrator and Principal Tia Esser said, “I am very grateful for and humbled by the magnitude of this gift, which will move the school forward from a facility that is both land-locked and bursting at the seams to one that will innovatively and exceptionally serve children, families, and the community for generations to come. This gift, along with the greatest gifts from our donors, has been beyond our imagining—fulfilling, in many respects, our capital campaign verse from Ephesians 3:20.”

The matching funds will be used as an expression of thankfulness to current donors for their support of the capital campaign to date and as an immediate 2-to-1 match for future donations. The 5 million dollar match will continue for the duration of the Our Greatest Gifts campaign.

“On behalf of the School Board and the School Association, Sioux Falls Lutheran School is thankful for a gift that will truly help finish a decades-old dream of a new facility,” School Board Chair Scott Peters said. “This gift, in support of our generous donors, will truly be a capstone to a preschool program that has been among The Local Best for 10 consecutive years and a kindergarten through 8th grade program that was recently named a National Lutheran School of Distinction.”

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and to Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” –Ephesians 3:20-21.
