At Sioux Falls Lutheran School, we know each student by name and are deeply invested in their success. We are passionate about partnering with families and the church to raise strong leaders and lifelong learners who are ready and willing to support others. Robust Academics
Our rich and challenging liberal arts program is designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It includes English and language arts, math, history, theology, and science, hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art STEM lab, and a personal finance course. Additionally, Chromebooks are issued to all high schoolers, and a number of dual-credit courses are available online through local universities.
Engaging Electives & Extracurriculars
We incorporate art, music, physical education, and Spanish into the high school experience. Students can also take part in more unique electives, such as career and technical education, life skills, film studies, forensics, data science, and more. Service projects, coding hours, National Honor Society, and chess club are a few other offerings available.
Invested Faculty & Staff
Thanks to our intimate school atmosphere, your child won’t fall through the cracks. SFLS teachers deliver innovative lessons and encourage students to actively participate in classroom instruction. They also lead thoughtful discussions and facilitate hands-on learning, providing one-on-one support when needed.
Athletics for All Students
At SFLS, students have the opportunity to participate in multiple extracurriculars thanks to our small school environment. Engaging in a variety of activities helps our student athletes develop well-rounded skills, build confidence, and learn to be positive role models in the school community. Available athletics include volleyball, cross country, 9-man football, basketball, powerlifting, track and field, golf, and sideline cheer. In addition, athletes will soon benefit from our new 4,700 square foot fitness center, which is currently under construction.
Excellence in Music & Theatre
Music ensembles including band, choir, orchestra, and praise band rehearse during the school day, while extracurriculars like marching band take place before and after school. Private music lessons are also available during the day for an additional fee. Many of our student musicians qualify for special events, such as All-State band, choir, and orchestra, as well as honor ensembles. Our theatre group, which hosts multiple productions throughout the year and an all-school musical every other year, has qualified for state one-act competitions since 2020.

College and Career Preparation
Our recent graduates earned a composite average ACT score of 26.7, compared to the average score in South Dakota of 21.6, so it’s no surprise that 100% of our graduates who decide to pursue college after graduation receive at least one scholarship. Many of our high schoolers go on to study at Concordia University, Nebraska; University of Sioux Falls; Dakota State University; community college; or tech school.

Culture of Care and Collaboration
High schoolers have the chance to experience serving others firsthand as leaders in our school community by working and interacting with students at every grade level.
Chapel leadership:
High school students help our pastors guide the student body through weekly worship by reading scripture, providing special music, and making announcements at chapel.
Child care support:
Our before and after school program, Eagle Care, accepts applications from interested high schoolers who would like to work on campus.
School activities:
Participation in school-wide special events, service projects, and fundraisers provide other opportunities for high school students to engage as servant-leaders.
Safety Extending Beyond Buildings
Our teachers and faculty value their relationships with students and are dedicated to creating a safe space for each child to share any issues and concerns they’re experiencing. This relationship extends to high school parents, too, with collaboration and communication being key.
Additionally, through the study of God’s word and our intentional focus on helping students develop conflict resolution and reconciliation skills, we are able to promote healthy dynamics and relationships as well as foster emotional and spiritual safety.
Our faculty and staff are trained on a variety of internal procedures to safeguard all students under their supervision, and our new state-of-the-art campus was designed with safety in mind. There are always members of the leadership team at school entry points during high traffic times, and visitors must check in at the front office with school staff.
