Two Athletes Place and Break Records at State Powerlifting Meet

Freshmen Elyse Prouty and Anesha Bright placed first and second respectively in their weight classes at the state powerlifting meet on Saturday, March 16, and both broke state records in the process.
“Anesha and Elyse showed the effort and persistence that they have shown all season long, and it paid off when it mattered,” Coach Ludwig, who is in his first season coaching powerlifting at Sioux Falls Lutheran School, said. “They showcased the strength of our school and proved witness to the gifts they are blessed with by the Lord!”
Elyse Prouty – 1st Place State Meet Stats:
Squat: 205 lbs
Bench: 105 lbs
Deadlift: 285 lbs (broke state record by 20 lbs.)
Total: 595 lbs
Anesha Bright – 2nd Place State Meet Stats:
Squat: 190 lbs (broke state record by 20 lbs.)
Bench: 80 lbs
Deadlift: 195 lbs
Total: 465 lbs
Sioux Falls Lutheran School is currently constructing a new Fitness Center on campus, which will be complete later this spring. You can support athletes like Elyse and Anesha by participating in the Fit 4 Him Fitness Center Challenge—an opportunity for individuals, couples, families, and church groups to finish the athletic training space within the new facility and to provide state-of-the-art lifting and athletic training equipment for the Fitness Center.
