Our middle school grades offer a nurturing environment where adolescents have the chance to grow and develop in a loving atmosphere while being encouraged to follow their talents & abilities.
The middle school teaches departmentalized core subjects. We have kept literature and language arts as separate classes. SMART Boards (interactive white boards) are installed in each classroom. There are multiple, unique ways for students to learn church and community involvement, such as chapel responsibilities, helping with younger students, and involvement at a local nursing home facility. Class sizes are small so individualized attention may be given during the years of growth and peer challenges.
Our music program is top rate: guitar choir, tone chimes, band beginning in the 4th grade, choir, individual music lessons on instruments ranging from piano to percussion, performance opportunities throughout the community and local and state music competitions. SFLS offers multiple sports: flag football and basketball for the boys, basketball and volleyball for the girls, and a running club. Many of our students also participate in community sports (swimming, softball, soccer, etc.) adding to their athletic opportunities.
